Tricia Gerard, M.Ed, NBCT, C-SL/DI, earned her Dyslexia Interventionist certification with The Center for Effective Reading Instruction (a subsidiary of the International Dyslexia Association), as well as, a Dyslexia Practitioners certification with the Wilson Language Company after her son was diagnosed with severe dyslexia at the end of 2nd grade. The public school system did not provide Orton Gillingham during his Special Ed. summer school experience nor did they provide more than 25 min a day in the 3rd grade. He was pulled out only for iii time for extra help with a general education program- Wilson Fundations. The special ed. certified teachers assigned to him did not have the appropriate certifications in Orton Gillingham needed to remediate, my son Bryce. In the 5th grade, Bryce scored a level 4 on the state Reading assessment. Orton Gillingham works.

As the founder of Dyslexia, Learning and Support Group Fl and Decoding Literacy.com, a 501 (3) c for literacy in Palm Beach County, Fl, she and other parents of dyslexics are collaborating to change how literacy in PBC is delivered. She is a member of the Florida Council of Exceptional Children and an active member and presenter for the Florida Branch of the International Dyslexia Association.

She has worked as a general education and special education teacher at both Elementary and Secondary education levels, working with varying exceptionalities such as students with Intellectual disabilities (IND), Specific Learning Disabled- DYSLEXIA, DYSGRAPHIA, DYSCALCULIA,  ADHD/ADD, as well as AUTISM, and GIFTEDNESS, etc...

She has extensive training working with students who thrive with specialized interventions such as Orton-Gillingham based methods. She has a proven track record for increasing the reading and spelling outcomes for all her students. The learning process can be a struggle for many students with conventional whole word reading teaching methods.

Fortunately, most students thrive when given a multi-sensory structured language program tailored to improve their unique areas of deficit. Because the techniques used in every tutoring session follow a multi-sensory approach, games and manipulatives are incorporated into lessons, reinforcing previously learned concepts in a fun and engaging way.
