Lindamood Bell Visualizing And Verbalizing — Comprehension Program

"The Visualizing and Verbalizing® (V/V®) program develops concept imagery—the ability to create an imagined or imaged gestalt from language—as a basis for comprehension and higher order thinking. The development of concept imagery improves reading and listening comprehension, memory, oral vocabulary, critical thinking, and writing."

Phonemic Awareness Programs
Lindamood Bell LiPS cards

Lindamood Bell LiPS

"The LiPS® Program teaches students to discover and label the oral-motor movements of phonemes. Students can then verify the identity, number, and sequence of sounds in words. Once established, phonemic awareness is then applied to reading, spelling, and speech."

Morphology, Etymology, Vocabulary & Spelling Instruction
Structured Word Inquiry for dyslexic students

Structured Word Inquiry

SWI investigations start with answering the 4 essential questions.

  1. What is the meaning of the word?
  2. How is it built?
  3. What related words can you find?
    • Morphological relatives — words that share a base
    • Etymological relatives — words that share historical roots
  4. What graphemes function coherently here?
    • Check that they represent the phonemes across the morphological family.
    • Check the influence of the word origin on grapheme choice.
    • Is what you thought was a grapheme actually an orthographic marker.
Dyslexia curriculum

Words By Marcia Henry

WORDS emphasizes decoding and spelling based on word origin and word structure, thus strengthening students' ability to decode, comprehend, and spell. Students will master new vocabulary across the core curriculum subjects.

Vocabulary through morphology for dyslexics

Vocabulary Through Morphographs

Students in grades 4–12; teaches common prefixes, suffixes, and roots with explicit, direct instruction, and multisensory practice activities and application. Create better readers, spellers, and thinkers with lessons, assessments, and reading activities.

Compositional Writing
Institute for Excellence in Writing curriculum

Institute For Excellence In Writing

"IEW's unique approach provides the structure that students need to develop confidence in the writing process, while gradually guiding them toward greater independence and creativity. They will learn nine structural models (note-taking, writing paragraphs, stories, simple reports, writing from pictures, research reports, creative writing, essays, and critiques) to help them organize any type of composition. Additionally, stylistic techniques (strong verbs, quality adjectives, sentence openers, and more) are taught incrementally to gently move students from the basics into more sophisticated writing."
